The city of Cold Lake is contracting out photo radar to a third party.
A private company will spend 40 hours a month setting up at hotspots for traffic violations around the city. This should free up local RCMP to deal with other situations instead.
Mayor Craig Copeland says that the third party will still be directly under local RCMP’s orders, setting up where the police tell them to.
The contract is in place until Halloween of 2018.
