The town of Bonnyville has decided to no longer subsidize local ambulance service.
The Ambulance society had been losing money for quite some time, with the town making up for whatever funding Alberta Health Services failed to provide. However, with cash reserves depleted, the town has decided that the service will have to stay within whatever provincial funding they get.
Mayor Gene Soblewski says this has been an issue for quite some time and needed to stop. He adds that the town remains in talks with the province over this matter.
