Cold Lake RCMP charge one person after pointing a firearm incident

One person has been charged after Cold Lake RCMP launched an investigation into a road rage incident on July 28th. 

Police got a complaint of a road rage incident within the city of Cold Lake with the victims reporting having been chased from a gas station after an interaction at the location involving an unknown male. 

The report says the man chased the victim’s vehicle and stopped to beat on their window. The chase continued and the man pulled out a handgun and pointed it at the victims before they were able to eventually get away. 

Cold Lake RCMP’s General Investigations Section launched an investigation and arrested Frederick James Daly after a search was conducted on Aug. 17, 2023. 

Officers located over 60 firearms and a large quantity of ammunition inside. Police determined that many of the firearms were not properly stored and/or were not legally possessed. Subsequent to the search, police also located approximately 92 grams of suspected cocaine, $2700.00 in Canadian currency, and other drug paraphernalia consistent with trafficking. 

The 42-year-old has been charged with pointing a firearm, possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, and unsafe storage of a firearm among others. 

Frederick James Daly was taken before a justice of the peace and remanded into custody and will appear at the Alberta Court of Justice in Bonnyville on Aug. 22, 2023.
