Over the Heritage Day long weekend, Alberta RCMP conducted traffic safety enforcement across the province and issued a total of 2,317 traffic tickets.
The majority of tickets handed out were for speeding (1,195 tickets) but officers also charged 83 people for impaired driving. According to officials across Alberta, there were four fatal collisions over the three days.
Other tickets mounties handed out included seatbelt infractions and distracted driving. Alberta RCMP reminds Albertans that traffic safety is everyone’s responsibility, and to phone 911 if you observe dangerous driving.
