Cold Lake resident soon to become a members of the Alberta Order of Excellence

Audrey McFarlane is among seven other Albertans becoming members of the Alberta Order of Excellence this year.

The Order is the province’s highest honor a citizen can receive and is an official part of the Canadian Honours System. Lieutenant Governor Salma Lakhani says the stories will inspire everyone to build vibrant and compassionate communities.

“These outstanding Albertans have enriched our collective journey through their dedication, innovation, and leadership.”

The Alberta Order of Excellence members to be invested in 2023 are:

  • Jim Carter, Edmonton
  • Max Foran, Priddis
  • Stephen Harper, Bragg Creek
  • Joe Lukacs, Calgary
  • Audrey McFarlane, Cold Lake
  • Claudette Tardif, Calgary
  • Stella Thompson, Calgary
  • Angus Watt, Edmonton

The Alberta Order of Excellence was created in 1979 with the first investiture in 1981. The Alberta Order of Excellence is the highest honour and is on the Canadian Honours Order of Precedence, meaning its members are entitled to wear the insignia as approved by the Governor of General of Canada.

The investiture ceremony will be held in Edmonton in October and will bring the membership of the Alberta Order of Excellence to 212.
