Tornado confirmed Wednesday afternoon near Vermillion

Environment Canada has confirmed a tornado touched down near Vermillion on Wednesday afternoon.

As of 10:20 p.m. Thursday, June 15th the federal weather agency reported around 4:30 p.m. a tornado touched down near the east-central area. As of Thursday night, a total of 10 tornados were confirmed across the province, with the first four being recorded near the Iron Springs area between 2:30 and 3 p.m. Wednesday and the last one at 6 p.m. near Cabin Lake.

According to Environment Canada, these are approximate times, and “all tornadoes have been given a preliminary rating of EF-0, with only minor damage reported at this time.” The provincial weather authority along with the Northern Tornadoes Project is continuing to investigate this weather event along with the cause.
