Lakeland youth learn business basics on lemonade day

Young entrepreneurs in the Lakeland area will be learning the basics of running a business during Lemonade Day this year.

According to Lemonade Day Northern Alberta the June 17th event is free for kids to participate in and “teaches kids how to start, own and operate their very own business,” by opening a lemonade stand for the day. Through the program kids are encouraged to spend some of their earnings, save some, and share some by donating a portion to their charity of choice. So, many of the kids will donate a portion of their proceeds to a charity of their choice.

This year there are 10 stands registered in Bonnyville, 15 in Cold Lake and six in St. Paul. Some of this year’s stand names and themes include Wyatt’s WWE Lemonade, Berry Splash Lemonade, Lemonade Lane, and Sunshine Lemonade.

Across the province in 2022, 953 kids participated in Lemonade Day and $12,185.09 was donated to local charities from the day’s proceeds.
