St. Paul was treated to True Colourz Fest over the weekend which saw people of all ages come together to celebrate Pride together.
The event was held for the first time at Mannawanis Native Friendship and saw many smiles and prizes given away with a DJ pumping up the party.
On behalf of Pride St. Paul Lynda Young says the event went really well and gave a huge thanks to all the volunteers who helped put the event together.
“All these people put in their time and effort to come and support it. Even though we encountered some difficulties we recognized the importance of putting on an event like this.”
June marks Pride month which is celebrated each year to honor the 1969 Stonewall Uprising in Manhattan. Young says it is so important to celebrate each other’s differences in a community because it only brings people closer.
“Being a small community people are very connected and it is so important to celebrate the diversity in our community. Having an event like this tells people regardless of who you are there is a space for you and everyone is welcome.”
Young says she is looking forward to next year’s event doing it all over again.
