Travis Baker commits to Oswego State

Pontiacs Defenceman #2 Travis Baker has just committed to Oswego State as of June 9th.

Baker joined the Yaks last season after leaving the Old’s Grizzlys in December of 2022. The Waterloo Ontario native scored four goals and five assists for nine points in 21 regular season games. The 2002-born left-handed defenceman played a combined 48 games with his respective AJHL teams and put up a total of 30 points over the course of the 2022-2023 season.

Associate General Manager Neil Langridge says they are very proud of Travis and he and the team wish the young hockey star the best going forward.

“We are very proud of Travis committing to play for SUNY Oswego. Travis came to us in December and made an impact in our lineup immediately which I believe will be the case next year with his new team.”

The Oswego State Lakers are a Division III team located in Oswego, NY and play in the Sunyac Conference. Oswego Head Coach Ed Gosek says they are very excited to have Travis and his family join the program.

“His ability to skate and read the game has allowed him to have success at the junior level.”

“We look forward to the role he will play within our team over the next four seasons and expect a smooth transition to NCAA hockey,” said Ed Gosek.

The 5’11, 180lbs defenseman is now the Pontiacs 12th College commitment from the 2022-2023 roster.
