Impaired Driver Hits Police Car in Cold Lake

On December 27, 2015, at approximately 1:30 a.m. Two Cold Lake RCMP members were roadside with a vehicle conducting a traffic investigation along Highway 28 by the Brick, in Cold Lake.  During the traffic stop a speeding vehicle approaching from the rear, side swiped the driver’s side of a police vehicle.  Both police vehicles had their emergency lights activated.  The collision happened just as the RCMP member was trying to enter the police vehicle, causing him to have to take evasive action to avoid getting struck.  The RCMP member was uninjured. The driver, 45 year old David Lanceleve, of Cold Lake fled the scene and was pulled over a short distance away by another RCMP unit.  David Lanceleve was arrested and provided breath samples double the legal limit.  David Lanceleve has been charged with operating a motor vehicle while impaired, drive while over the legal limit of .08, dangerous driving, failing to remain at the scene of an accident and committing a common nuisance endangering life.  David Lanceleve has since been released from custody pending his next court appearance at Cold Lake Provincial Court, on Wednesday, January 27, 2016, at 10:00 a.m.  Impaired driving is not worth the risk.  Keep safe, stay alive, don’t drink and drive.  There are many safe options available and none of those options include driving while under the influence.
