Wagons, Rodeo takes over Bonnyville Ag Grounds

Bonnyville residents can dust off their cowboy boots as the World Professional Chuckwagon Association and the Canadian Pro Rodeo are in town until the 11th.

All the action starts at the Bonnyville Rodeo Grounds Thursday and Friday when the wagons roll at 7 p.m., and the grounds open at 5 p.m. Saturday things get started a little earlier with a pancake breakfast at the grounds from 8 to 11 a.m.,  the grounds for the wagons and rodeo will open at 4 p.m., with the wagons rolling at 6 p.m. and rodeo action getting underway after the final WPCA heat.

On championship Sunday the top four wagons from the first three nights will compete in the 20-thousand-dollar dash for cash. The Bonnyville Ag Grounds open at 11 a.m. with the first heat getting underway at 1 p.m. Like Saturday the rodeo will get underway following the final heat of the wagons.

Last year Bonnyville Chuckwagon Champion Chanse Vigen is coming off a high from the WPCA’s first show of the year, winning both the aggregate and championship titles in Grande Prairie. Last year Vigen competed against Wade Salmond, Chance Flad and Cruise Bensmiller for the Bonnyville title.
