Cold Lake Council shows support for BOAGS

Cold Lake City Council will give support in the form of sponsorship for this year’s Bonnyville Oil & Gas Show.

Council ultimately decided that a $2500 “Moose” level of sponsorship would be provided to the Bonnyville and District Chamber to help the event.

During Cold Lake’s May 9 regular council meeting Bonnyville and District Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Serina Parsons presented to council the opportunity to support this regional event.

The BOGAS is a bi-annual local show giving local oil and gas companies space and time to promote their services and future projects. The show has been on a three-year hiatus due to Covid-19 restrictions with the last BOAGS held in 2019.

The presentation was talked about during the meeting on May 23 regular meeting. Council noted while the event does take place outside the City of Cold Lake, the nature of this event has a wide reach and affects many residents who work in the Oil and Gas industry.

Cold Lake’s Mayor Craig Copeland says the city is a bedroom community for the Oil and Gas industry in the Lakeland region.

“Many services such as retail and restaurants in the City rely on income from this industry. I think that returning that support helps strengthen our relationships with our neighbouring communities and their workforce.”

The show is set for June 21st at 10 am to 7 pm and for June 22nd, 10 am to 4 pm.
