Property crimes charges laid by Vermilion RCMP

Vermilion RCMP has charged two and arrested one person in connection to a stolen vehicle and property crimes.

Vermilion RCMP received a report of a stolen vehicle on April 27, 2023, and initiated an investigation which led to the stolen vehicle being observed by police prior to it fleeing from police.

Police were able to identify two occupants within the stolen vehicle and attempted to locate the suspects. Christian Ruston has been located, arrested, and charged on May 18 with possession of stolen property over $5000, and 3 counts of failing to comply with undertaking.

Ruston was released on Undertakings with various conditions with a court set for June 19, 2023, at Alberta Court of Justice in Vermilion.

A warrant has been issued for Skye Martin as she has not yet been located and a warrant has been issued for her arrest. She has been charged with possession of stolen property over $5000, flight from police, and fail to comply with undertaking among others.

Sgt. Corey Buckingham for Vermilion RCMP Detachment Commander says property crime continues to be a major concern for police in this area.

“Area residents are reminded to secure their vehicles and valuables as well as to report suspicious activity. It might just be the last piece of the puzzle we need to solve a crime.”
