Bonnyville asks for help with barbeque during Canada day celebrations

The Town of Bonnyville is looking for local non-profit groups to offer a Steak & Beer sit-down style barbeque during its Canada Day party in the Park.

The local non-profit groups would be brought on board and have the sole responsibility of planning and executing the sit down including providing everything from food, beverages, AGLC licensing, fencing, and seating for the guests. The town says all the proceeds from this fundraising event would be retained by the organizing groups.

The day will start with a pancake breakfast at Sobeys from 8:00 a.m. till 11:00 a.m. followed up with opening ceremonies at the museum at 1:00 p.m. with the Canada Day parade running down Main Street around 3:00 pm.

Right after the parade, the party will move to Little Leap Park for family activities with clowns, magicians, balloon artists, and a bouncy house followed by musical performances.

Alex Kusturok will start the performances off with fiddling followed by Main Street Band at 8:30 pm with Doc Walker bringing it home at 10:00 pm. Lastly, fireworks will light up the night at dusk.

Doreen Kushnir, Recreation Assistant for the Town of Bonnyville says this event is very exciting.

“This year we have a variety of music so it should be fun for everyone.”

The deadline for groups to register for this fundraising opportunity is Friday, June 2. For more information, call Doreen at 780-826-3496.
