Human remains investigated by Pierceland RCMP

Pierceland RCMP received a report of human remains on May 3rd around 9:40 p.m. near a residence on the Big Island Lake Cree Territory.
The human remains were recovered for further investigation and the Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes has taken carriage of the investigation. An RCMP Forensic Anthropologist has been engaged to assist with identifying the remains. A forensic autopsy has been scheduled to take place at a later date.
A ground search of the area was initiated but did not locate any additional remains and police will be in the area while the investigation continues.
Families of missing persons in the area have been notified of the discovery.
