A fire restriction has been issued for the MD of Bonnyville, including the Summer Village of Bonnyville Beach, the Summer Village of Pelican Narrows and the Village of Glendon.
The restriction means all fire permits issued in the area are suspended and no new ones will be issued while it is in effect. The only fire pits and safe campfires allowed are in permitted areas such as campgrounds, day-use areas, and privately owned land.
According to the MD, the restriction is expected to reduce the “number of human-caused wildfires in Alberta,” but still is allowing residents to enjoy the outdoors.
