Bonnyville Health Centre emergency department closed Thursday night

The emergency department at the Bonnyville Health Centre will be closed from 5 p.m. Thursday April 27th until 7 a.m. Friday April 28th. Covenant Health says the closure is due to an unexpected physician shortage, and patients will be asked to divert to other medical facilities for healthcare during that time.

“We would like to thank the community for their patience and apologize for any inconvenience this may cause as we navigate this extended staffing shortage,” says Shelly Franklin, Site Administrator, Bonnyville Health Centre. “We acknowledge that this temporary service reduction will cause some concern for local residents, and we ask that you are patient with our staff during this challenging time,” Franklin adds.

Patients are being asked to call 911 if they have a medical emergency, with the closest healthcare departments still open including Cold Lake Healthcare Centre, and the St. Therese – St. Paul Healthcare Centre.
