Bonnyville Health Centre ED sees temporary closure

The Bonnyville Health Centre will be temporarily closed today April 20th from 5:00 p.m. until Friday, April 21st at 7:00 a.m.

The closure is due to an unexpected physician shortage. Patients are still asked to contact 911 if they have any medical emergencies and the Health Link at 811 for any non-emergency health-related questions which is available around the clock.

EMS will reroute to either the Cold Lake Healthcare Centre or St. Therese the St. Paul Healthcare Centre when appropriate.

In a media release Site Administrator for the Bonnyville Health Centre, Shelly Franklin says this service reduction will cause some concern for local residents and she asks everyone to be patient.

“We would like to thank the community for their patience and apologize for any inconvenience this may cause as we native this extended staffing shortage.“

Other service areas will remain open at Bonnyville Health Centre.
