Town of Bonnyville set to host Day of Mourning ceremony

A Day of Mourning ceremony will be hosted in the town of Bonnyville to honor and bring attention to everyone who has lost their lives to workplace injury and disease.

The ceremony will be hosted by the Town of Bonnyville, local Chambers of Commerce, and local safety Companies. The ceremony is scheduled to take place on April 28, 10:30 am at the Bonnyville Town Hall, 4917- 49th Ave Council Chambers.

Day of Mourning ceremonies are held across the country since the Canadian Labour Congress initiated a National Day of Mourning ceremony in 1984.

The day offers an opportunity for everyone to honor co-workers, friends, and family who’ve lost their lives to workplace injury and disease, and to collectively renew the commitment to create safer workplaces in our province.

In the year 2022, Alberta lost 161 men and women to workplace injury or illness.
