Pontaics win game 6 of round one AJHL playoffs

The Bonnyville Pontiacs are moving on to the second round of the playoffs after winning game 6 in their series against the Lloydminster Bobcats by a 5-2 score.

The game started with the Bobcats taking the lead in the first period but was short-lived as the Yaks came back in the second with three goals of their own. Matteo Giampa scored twice during the period with Mike Cataldo picking up the third goal for the Yaks.

Finally in the third-period goals were traded back and forth but the Yaks remained in the lead and took the game. Pontiacs Associate GM Neil Langridge says it’s great to get back in the second round of playoffs.

“It has been four years since our last time and it’s great to get back there,” Langridge says both teams played really well during the set. “We have a young team and a lot of players who have not been in the playoffs before so it was a little bit of a learning curve for them but I think as the series went on we got better.”
