Road To Hope gets 1K donation from Heritage Society

Lac La Biche Heritage Society has donated $1,000 towards Road To Hope to help the organization drive patients seeking cancer care treatments.

Road To Hope is a nonprofit foundation that provides transportation for cancer patients who need care in other areas like Edmonton. Volunteer driver and Vice President of the foundation Blair Norton says it is not always easy for some of the older patients to get up and drive, and Road To Hope helps them get to where the treatment is.

Norton says the donation from the Heritage Society will go to reimbursing volunteer drivers and paying their one employee.

“It is always great to receive a donation. providing this service is so important and this foundation is well worth its time and investment.”

The Road To Hope Program drove about 35,000 kilometres to get patients where they needed to be for treatment in the 2022 year. The patients do not pay for the service as the foundation operates on a combination of grants and donations. Norton says Road To Hope is always looking for drivers and donations. The website can be found here with information on how to become a driver and book a driver if needed.
