Cold Lake Receives Provincial Recognition for Hosting Fire Evacuees

The city of Cold Lake has received some special recognition from the province for its role in this summer’s wildfire evacuations.

The Alberta Emergency Management Agency presented the city with an Emergency Management Achievement Award yesterday for providing shelter to Saskatchewan residents who had to leave their homes when the fires were at their worst. At one point as many as 900 people were taking up temporary residence inside the Energy Centre.
