Don’t forget residents of the town of Bonnyville utility rates are going up by 1% next year.
Council instituted a policy of increasing rate by 1% annually a few years ago to make rate increases more predictable and stable, as opposed to keeping them flat for a few years then jumping them up as much as 3% in a single budget.
Mayor Gene Sobolewski is quick to point out however, that the town is still covering a large chunk of the bill themselves. The increase is meant to cover for extra fuel costs and to keep up with inflation.
