Cold Lake Releases 2016 Budget

The City of Cold Lake has officially released its budget for 2016.

With business in the oil and gas sector slowing down, council says it made avoiding property tax increases a priority. That doesn’t mean there won’t be any new fees at all though. Utility rates will go up by roughly five percent and anyone using the waste management transfer station or landfill will have to pay five dollars as well.

However, there are some trade-offs Library memberships will now be free. Upgrades will be made to a host of city services as well including asphalt spray patching, street sweeping and a new weed control program. More by-law patrols will be made in the summer months as well.
