Bonnyville RCMP investigate Theft of Fuel and find Weapons

Bonnyville RCMP responded to a call about three suspicious individuals suspected to be stealing fuel but ended up laying charges relating to weapon possession.

On October 18, around 8:15 a.m. Bonnyville RCMP got a call from a community member near Highway 881 saying three suspicious individuals had a U-Haul and were possibly stealing fuel.

The U-Haul had left the scene while RCMP was en-route but was later found on Highway 660 near Franchere.

While interacting with the occupants RCMP members found a Crossbow and firearms case resulting in all three suspects being arrested without incident. A subsequent search of the U-Haul uncovered a rifle and other weapons. A stack of mail belonging to residents of Warspite was also located and determined to have been stolen that morning.

No charges were laid involving theft of fuel but they are being held accountable for the firearm, crossbow, and other weapons including additional composite bows, a long gun pellet gun, an airsoft pistol, and a medieval-style axe.

A 40-year-old male, a resident of Cold Lake is charged with Possession of Weapons contrary to Order and Possession of a Firearm while Unauthorized.  He is set to appear in Court on December 6, 2022, at Bonnyville Provincial Court.

A 42-year-old male resident of Bonnyville is being charged with Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm and is set to appear in Court on November 1.

Finally, the 27-year-old female is being charged with Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm and has been charged with Possession of Matters Stolen from Mail.
