La Corey Fire Department Looking For New Volunteers

La Corey’s fire department is looking to recruit some new volunteer fire fighters to go alongside its new fire hall. If you’re able-bodied, live north of the Beaver River, free for two nights a month and have a class 5 licence, you’re qualified. The department meets for training every second Tuesday of the month at 7:30 and on average gets called out about four to five times a month.

New recruits will be fully trained and put on call fairly quickly. Even a responsibility like driving the fire truck might not require as much training as you think. Chief Al Donald explains that an air brake certification is all that’s needed in addition to a Class 5 licence to drive the truck on calls, training for which can be provided by the department.

Donald can be contacted for further information at 780-201-5649.
