Phone Scam Reported in the Lakeland

Beware of yet another telephone scam that’s hit the Lakeland.

The Bonnyville RCMP have received reports that someone or a group of people have been calling residences claiming to be with the Canadian Revenue Agency and that the person owes taxes. In some cases the caller threatened to issue a warrant in the victim’s name, saying they will be arrested.

The real CRA does not operate in this way at all. The RCMP remind the public not to give up funds through Western Union to anyone claiming to be from the agency.
