Impaired Driver Stopped From Stealing Vehicle By Civilians

An impaired driver who tried to steal a vehicle in St. Paul was thwarted by onlookers before being taken into police custody earlier this week.

According to firsthand accounts, the man jumped into an idling vehicle at the 7/11 parking lot, then proceeded to drive into the side of the building and back into a street lamp. A group of civilians pulled him out of the car and fire crews held him down until the police arrived.

The suspect is facing 10 separate charges and will have a bail hearing tomorrow.
