Conservatives Lose Federally, Steamroll to Victory Locally

Another federal election is in the books for Canada, and while the Conservatives lost out to a Liberal majority, they continued to do well in Alberta, particularly here in the Lakeland.

Neither candidate in either local riding faced much for competition. Shannon Stubbs won the Lakeland Riding with over 70% of the vote while David Yurdiga won Fort McMurray/Cold Lake with over 65.

In total, the Conservatives won 102 seats compared to the Liberals 184. The NDP finished a distant third at 42.
