Tragedy struck the Lakeland today.
The Cold Lake RCMP responded to a report of a suicidal male near the rodeo grounds at roughly 10:50 this morning. After finding the man, his gun fired. He was pronounced dead at the scene. No shots were fired by the RCMP and no one else was hurt in the incident.
The Alberta Serious Incident Response Team is conducting an independent investigation into the matter.
