New Skate Park Opens in Cold Lake

Even with the downturn in the economy, it still seems like something new is coming to Cold Lake every week. Not only is the Energy Centre going to be doubled in size, tomorrow is the grand opening of the city’s first skate park.

The park pays tribute to the city’s military character by featuring a long stretch that looks like an airplane runway, with ramps resembling jet wings at either end. There’s also a fighter jet sculpture to north of the park as well that will be painted soon.

The grand opening will have lots of fun activities, including a free barbecue. You can find out more at the events calendar.

Here’s a video of what it looks like, taken by Cold Lake High School’s RTV News.
