Car thefts have decreased in Cold Lake, while increasing dramatically in Bonnyville so far this year.
Vehicle thefts from January until now in Cold Lake have nearly halved to 63 this year, compared to 112 this time in 2014. In Bonnyville though, their numbers have nearly doubled up to 61.
It remains unclear what has caused Bonnyville’s numbers to shoot up so dramatically, but the Cold Lake RCMP attribute the drop in thefts there to car dealerships investing more into security and a crackdown on repeat offenders.
