Northern Lights has made replacing Bonnyville’s high school with a new building its top priority in its three year capital plan.
That doesn’t mean that the new school will be built in that time – that depends on whether the provincial government will fund it or not- but the division is going ahead to get as much legwork done before being approved as possible so that they can be ready should the money come through.
Communications Officer Nicole Garner says a growing student population and an aging building are the main reasons a new school is needed.
The division is considering building the school on a new site, should funding be approved.
