The town of Bonnyville has approved a contingency plan in case construction on 51st Avenue drags into November.
If such a scenario were to occur the town will purchase cold mix and wait to finish the project until next year.
Paving on the project is expected to start early next week in front of the Post Office and the west section of 51st.
