Tuesday night brings budget open house in Bonnyville

Tomorrow night the doors open in Bonnyville Town Hall to hear from residents on the 2020 Budgets. A public meeting starts at 6 PM as the town looks for some guidance to help and shape an interim plan.

The 2020 capital and operating budgets for the town combined are so far showing a deficit that is in the millions. Town council has largely put the blame for the missing cash on the restructuring of the ID-349 tax revenue agreement.

Council will take the feedback from Tuesday night and hash out an interim budget, which is required to be approved before the new year. The final budgets are expected to get the seal of approval later in 2020 when tax assessments are done.
