Cold Lake #33 on Canada’s Most Dangerous list: Maclean’s

A Canadian publication claims Cold Lake is the 33rd most dangerous place to live in the country. Maclean’s Magazine released its list Tuesday that uses crime statistics from Stats Canada to establish a “Crime Severity Index” to make its rankings.

The list has Cold Lake with a reported population of 15,205 wearing a CSI of 129, above their national average of 75.01. The publication also claims the area has an impaired driving rate per 100,000 population almost 4 times the national average and cocaine trafficking offences almost nine times the national averages. According to their stats, there were 26 cocaine-related incidents with police last year.

In 2018, the magazine had Cold Lake at number 15.

Number one on this year’s list went to Thompson, Manitoba. A full list can be found here.
