Celebrations of the Métis culture are underway across the province. Métis week began back on November 10th and continues through the weekend.
The Métis Nation of Alberta is hosting a variety of events across Alberta and in the Lakeland, including a large Jamboree at Portage College in Lac La Biche on Friday evening.
The week will culminate with a commemoration of historical Métis leader Louis Riel at the Alberta Legislature on Saturday. That is due to get started at 11 AM.
There are around 97,000 people living in the province who identify as Métis.
