Groups looking for $1.7 mil from town

Bonnyville Town Council has a job ahead of them as they look to find about $1.7 million for groups around the area. Council was presented with a breakdown Tuesday evening of the requests for support or funding from groups over the last four weeks.

Delegations like the Cold Lake Air Show, Bonnyville and District SPCA and others made pitches to the council for everywhere from just over $1,900 to $945,000 for their operations.

The requests come after the council was presented with first-draft budgets needing about $6 million to balance back at the end of October.

Council is set to meet again November 26th to hash out a second draft budget. On December 3rd residents can get their say on the financial plan during council’s annual public budget meeting.
