December 1st to 7th, was National Safe Driving Week across Canada, with agencies from all corners of the country took part in special initiatives to help promote safe driving.

Two Hills and Vegreville RCMP detachments teamed up over the weekend and braved extreme temperatures to conduct numerous Alberta Check-stops in various high-traffic areas including Highway 16, Highway 857, and Highway 36. RCMP members engaged hundreds of drivers to ensure, amongst other things, that there were licensed, sober drivers behind the wheels of registered vehicles. The RCMP administered several roadside screening tests to check Blood-Alcohol Concentration, seized multiple vehicles, removed illegal narcotics from the street and laid charges under the Criminal Code and Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

Two Hills RCMP are reminding the public to drive with caution during what is always a busy holiday season. The public is also encouraged to call immediately regarding any suspicious activity or dangerous driving, especially in the overnight or early morning hours.
