Charges laid after July Goodfish Lake death

Mounties in St. Paul says an almost-three month investigation into the death of a woman in Goodfish Lake has resulted in charges. Police say the initial incident took place back on July 21st, where mounties and emergency crews were called out to a woman found on the side of the main street in the community. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The RCMP says their investigation led them to believe the woman had jumped from a moving vehicle. The driver of that vehicle did not return to the scene of the incident.

The driver has since been identified as Simon Shirt. He has been arrested and charged with failure to stop after an accident resulting in death. He’s due in St. Paul court on November 28th.

Police are saying tips from the public played a key role in helping their investigation.
