AMA Roadbot sim a chance to learn driving skills

Students at a few Lakeland high schools got a taste of winter driving without leaving the classroom. Northern Lights Public Schools says the AMA Roadbot Driving Simulator was at Bonnyville Centralized High School on October 22nd and Cold Lake High School the next day.

The program gives Grade 11 students who are close in age to taking their driver’s license test the chance to try a simulation of Alberta winter driving conditions.

“Experiences like this, where students learn through participating in a real-world scenario, are very meaningful and memorable for our students,” said Board Chair Arlene Hrynyk. “We share the Coalition’s commitment to safety and are grateful they have provided our students with the opportunity to learn how to stay safe on the road.”

The event is being offered in partnership with the Coalition for Safer Alberta Roads. This is the third time the group has brought the AMA Roadbot to NLPS schools. Previously, students at J.A. Williams High School in Lac La Biche and Ecole Plamondon School had the opportunity to take part.
