Driver over the limit, left scene: CL RCMP

Police in Cold Lake say a driver has been arrested and charged after hit-and-run in the city. It happened on Friday afternoon.

Mounties were called out to the scene of a rear-end crash. While they made their way there, a second call came in saying the driver of one of the vehicles had smelled strongly of liquor and had since left the scene.

A witness was able to catch the car parking at a home and the driver heading inside. Police say they arrested the driver for both driving over the legal limit as well as failing to remain at the scene of an accident.

Mounties are urging people to plan ahead if they plan on drinking and find a safe ride home.
