Council hears from groups looking for budget cash

Deliberations on where money from the Town of Bonnyville will end up continued in council Tuesday evening. Town council was in session for a special meeting to hear from a few delegations looking for support from the town as 2020 budget deliberations fire up.

One such group was the Bonnyville Curling Club, where President Colin Hanusz says they’re looking for up to $15,000 to keep the curling rink running full speed for the season.

“We do appreciate the funds we receive from the town for maintenance. It’s a critical part of our budget. We’re hoping that gets put in the budget again for this year. If so, it’ll be easy curling for us again this year.”

Also at the meeting was Steve Medford from the Bonnyville Historical Society. The group is looking for some cash to hire a full-time supervisor. Delegations from the Extreme Mudfest committee also made pitches.
