Whooping Cough Outbreak Declared in Northern Alberta

Alberta Health Services has declared a whooping cough outbreak in the north of the province.

AHS is encouraging all residents in the area to be immunized for pertussis. Immunization is available by appointment at health centres.

182 cases have been confirmed in the Northern Zone, three of which required a visit to the hospital. The North zone has had about half of all cases reported in the province this year.
