A popular venue for live theatre in the Lakeland says it is closing its doors in the new year. The Grande Parlour Theatre in Cold Lake announced Wednesday in a press release that the curtain will fall on the venue in January of 2020.

In the release, President of the Cold Lake Entertainment Society and owner of the neighbouring Beantrees Cafe Craig Konechny cites a variety of reasons for the closure including revenue streams and scheduling issues.

The theatre was opened in 2017. Earlier this year it received some grant funding from local government to help pay for new equipment and upgrades.
