50th avenue trail moves south of road, hopefully done before snow

A walking trail due to run east out of Bonnyville is getting a little tweaking. Town council originally approved a trail on the north side of 50th avenue that would go all the way down to 37th street near the new 7-11 store back in February.

Last Tuesday at town council Assistant CAO Bill Rogers reported that engineers had recommended that the trail run on the south side of the street. It will now connect existing sidewalks already in place.

Part of the reason for the planning audible was also budget and time. Engineers say it should be completed for the same amount of money that’s been budgeted.

Work is slated to be done by the end of fall barring weather which could push the project to spring.
