Lakeland, Fort McMurray-Cold Lake ballot shaping up

There are 28 days left until the Lakeland will head to the federal polls and candidates in both ridings in the area are starting to come forward. Voters in most of the area will be picking representation in either the Lakeland or Fort McMurray-Cold Lake ridings.

Elections Canada says three candidates have filed paperwork to be on the ballot for Lakeland as of Monday. Current Conservative Party of Canada member Shannon Stubbs is so far joined by Libertarian Party of Canada candidate Robert Mcfadzean and People’s Party of Canada candidate Alain Houle.

The Fort McMurray-Cold Lake ballot so far includes Conservative Party of Canada member David Yurdiga and People’s Party of Canada candidate Matthew Barrett. Maggie Farrington announced last week that she would be running in the riding representing the Liberal Party of Canada.

Nominations are open for candidates until September 30th, says Elections Canada. The ballots are due to be finalized on October 2nd.
