Pair of Saddle Lake men charged after search warrant turns up guns, drugs: RCMP

Mounties from St. Paul say two men from Saddle Lake are facing charges including drug possession after a raid on a rural home on Wednesday. Police executed the search warrant after an investigation into illegal activity on the property.

Police say they found multiple guns including a handgun as well as 118 grams of suspected cocaine, 83 grams of suspected methamphetamine, 27 grams of suspected fentanyl and just under $4000 in cash.

“Intelligence-led investigations and partnerships with detachments is key to our successful operations,” said Constable Guillaume Wilson. “We have removed a handgun off the street, not to mention a significant amount of drugs.” “We will continue to disrupt the sale of illicit drugs that harm our communities.”

43-year-old Lyle Cardinal and 35-year-old Preston Cardinal of Saddle Lake are now facing charges including multiple counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking. They’re both due to make their first appearance in Vegreville court on September 23rd.
