Fire Rating for The MD of Bonnyville Upgraded

On August 13th, 2015, The Bonnyville Regional Fire Authority increased its fire rating to very high. Nelson Johnson, Regional Fire Prevention Officer says this is due to drier than usual conditions and warmer weather.

BRFA has some tips for good fire safety:

  • Have safe campfires – attended at all times, use approved fire pits (where required) and ensure that the fire is completely out before leaving
  • Have a bucket or water or fire extinguisher – handy or available
  • Inspect you Off Highway Vehicle (OHV) and remove any debris that has built up near the exhaust
  • Do not carelessly discard cigarettes- they can cause fires. Ensure that your cigarette is extinguished and placed in the appropriate receptacle

This information was released to increase awareness of the situations, if the situation does not improve, restrictions may follow.
