Moose Lake weir removal takes step forward

Work is continuing on the removal of the controversial weir at Moose Lake. The structure was originally put in place to help the lakes water levels but call for its removal by some homeowners around the lake saw a decision from the MD of Bonnyville in April of 2018 to remove it.

On Wednesday MD council announced they had heard from the Alberta Environment and Parks on the weir. The decision to remove the weir has been green-lighted from the province after their own study.

The process is expected to begin in the fall and includes consultation from the public as well as aboriginal groups.
